Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh Emotional Intelligence terhadap Academic Engagement mahasiswa tingkat akhir, serta mengeksplorasi peran Life Satisfaction sebagai variabel mediasi dalam hubungan tersebut. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasari oleh pentingnya keterlibatan akademik dalam mempersiapkan karir di tengah tantangan transisi dari dunia kampus ke dunia kerja, di mana Emotional Intelligence dan kepuasan hidup menjadi faktor psikologis yang turut memengaruhi kesiapan mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian eksplanatori. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 280 mahasiswa tingkat akhir dari Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis Universitas Negeri Padang yang diambil dengan teknik cluster purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner yang mengukur tiga variabel utama: Emotional Intelligence, Life Satisfaction, dan Academic Engagement. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Emotional Intelligence berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Academic Engagement. Selain itu, Emotional Intelligence juga berpengaruh secara positif terhadap Life Satisfaction, dan Life Satisfaction turut memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap Academic Engagement. Temuan ini juga mengonfirmasi bahwa Life Satisfaction memediasi hubungan antara Emotional Intelligence dan Academic Engagement. Implikasi dari hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan kecerdasan emosional dan peningkatan kepuasan hidup perlu menjadi perhatian dalam upaya meningkatkan keterlibatan akademik mahasiswa yang sedang mempersiapkan diri menghadapi dunia kerja.
